Plymouth was launched by Chrysler in 1928 to compete in the affordable car market alongside Ford and Chevrolet. Despite a slightly higher price, its standard features helped it succeed, especially during the Great Depression. The brand nearly rivaled Ford in sales by the early 1940s. However, declining quality and late entry into the performance and small car markets hurt its reputation in the '50s and '60s. Though revived briefly by muscle cars like the Barracuda, Plymouth eventually became a line of re-badged Dodges. With only the Prowler as a unique model, the brand was phased out by 2000. Today, collectors keep Plymouth’s legacy alive, and Unicorp Auto Paints offers matching touch up paint to help restore and maintain these classic cars.
